The sixth pharaoh of the Sixth Dynasty
Prenomen: Merenra
Also known as: Nemtyemsaf II · Merenre II
In older literature Nemtiemsaf was known as Antiemsaf, but this has been proven to be incorrect. The correct reading is Nemtiemsaf. His name is included in Manetho's king list as Menthesouphis, which could be a Greek transcription of Merenra. To distinguish him from his namesake, Nemtiemsaf I, he is often numbered as Merenra II, but there is no contemporary evidence that his throne name was Merenra. The Abydos king list (39) gives his name as Merenra djefa em saf, which could note a lacuna in the Ramesside records for the nemty-sign.
