The fourth pharaoh of the Third Dynasty
The Horus name for this pharaoh is unknown, and likely we will never know for certain. The name Hudjefa appears in the Turin king list, while the Abydos king list has Sedjes. Both names are synonyms for "omitted or erased," and was used when the original name was unreadable or lost to the scribe compiling the list. They are placed after Sekhemkhet, and the three lists only give four or five names of rulers of the third dynasty. According to Africanus, Manetho named nine kings, while Eusebius only name three out of a purported eight. It is an unsurmountable problem to connect these nine kings with the arcaeological record, especially a nameless one.
