The third pharaoh of the First Dynasty
Also known as: Hor-Djer
Nine years of Djer’s reign are preserved in the main Cairo fragment of the royal annals, and a further ten years may record the beginning of his reign in the annals on the Palermo Stone, though this identification is uncertain. Evidence of Djer has been found in his tomb and funerary enclosure at Abydos, as well as in a large mastaba at Saqqara. A rock inscription of is also known in southern Sinai.
The Abydos Canon lists the third pharaoh as Ity/Itti/Ateti, while the Turin papyrus lists a name beginning with It.. The Manetho list of Africanus give Athothis, while Eusebius give Cencenes.
