The third pharaoh of the Roman Dynasty
Also known as: Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus
Accession 37 BC
End of reign 41 BC
Duration 4 years
Germanicus, commonly known as Caligula, was the third Roman emperor, reigning for just four years until his assassination in 41 AD. His biographers, biased against imperial excess, amplified anecdotes of megalomania, sadism and divine pretensions in order to justify subsequent regimes.
